How to Vote Early In Person

  • Step 2: Access My Voter Page using your name, county, and birthdate then click “VIEW MY SAMPLE BALLOT" and write down or print out your choices (no phones are allowed to be out in the voting booth!).

    • When: Pick a day and time early voting is offered in your county.
    • Where: Find a convenient early voting location in your county.
    • How: Bring an acceptable form of ID and plan your transportation to the polls.
    • Who: Bring a friend or loved one with you.
  • Step 4: Go vote — and don’t forget to get your sticker when you’re done!

Location(s) and hours information may vary and is based on the best available information. If you have any questions, please call your county elections office.
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

Why vote early?

If you’re able to vote early in person, we recommend it! Why? Glad you asked.

CONVENIENCE!

  • You have many options for what day and time you want to vote and aren’t limited to 7am - 7pm on Election Day.
  • You can vote at any early voting location in your county and not just your assigned Election Day voting location.

JUST IN CASE!

  • Voting early allows you to remedy any issues, should they occur. For example, if you show up to vote early but are told that you don’t have the correct ID, you have time to get your required ID and go back to vote at a later date.

What if I have to vote provisionally with a paper ballot?

A provisional ballot is a paper ballot that is hand-marked and set aside in a separate envelope rather than fed through the voting machine. It’s issued when a voter’s eligibility is in question, such as:

  • You do not have proper identification.
  • Your name is not listed on the voter registration rolls.
  • There are other questions about your eligibility to vote.

If your eligibility is verified, your provisional ballot will be accepted, and your vote will be counted. If you need to vote by provisional ballot, the poll worker should provide instructions and paperwork for you to complete. You can check the status of your provisional ballot to see if it was accepted on My Voter Page.

PLEASE ACT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

If you need to provide a valid ID to your county or do something else to “cure” — or fix — your ballot, you will only have until 5pm on the Friday after Election Day to do so for your vote to count.

What if I am unable to read English or have a disability; how do I get assistance voting?

You can get help from:

  • A person of your choice (excluding employers, union agents, or candidates and their family members).
  • Poll workers trained to assist with voting needs.

What if I have a disability or I’m over 75?

Georgia law requires accessible voting locations. Here’s what’s available to you:

  • Accessible voting machines:  Voting locations will have headsets for audio ballots, large-print controls, and accommodations for sip-and-puff devices.
  • Visual impairment support: There are apps available to help read your ballot. Be sure to delete any ballot photos before you leave the voting location.
  • Skip the line: If you’re 75+ or need assistance due to a disability, you can vote immediately. Notify a poll worker or deputy at the door to be brought to the next available booth. This applies anytime during Early Voting and on Election Day from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
  • Find additional resources and learn more about what accommodations are available at Voting Assistance for People with Disabilities (Georgia Secretary of State).

How do I get a ride to my voting location?

Free rides are available in some locations! Call the Georgia Coalition for the Peoples’ Agenda at 877-524-VOTE (877-524-8683) for information.

Can I vote if I have a criminal record?

Each person’s situation is unique. Visit the Georgia Justice Project to find out more about the voting eligibility of people with criminal records in Georgia.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! Georgia law explicitly allows voters to bring their own children who are under 18 or any child 12 years old or younger who’s accompanying the voter! Just remember: Kids are there as observers — they cannot touch the ballot or operate the voting machine.

How will I know if my early vote ballot has been accepted?

Access My Voter Page using your name, county, and birthdate and look for “Voter Participation History.” If you see the Election Day date listed, your vote counted! If you do not see the date listed, you might be able to “cure” your ballot to ensure it counts. Contact your local elections officials. You can also call or text the Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) for assistance.

What if I can’t get an ID in time to vote?

If you do not have an acceptable form of photo ID at the time of voting, you can cast a provisional ballot. You will then have until 5pm on the Friday after Election Day to present an acceptable form of ID to your county registrar’s office for your vote to be counted.

How can I get help getting or replacing an ID?

Contact VoteRiders online at voteriders.org/freehelp or call or text VoteRiders at 866-ID-2-VOTE (866-432-8683).
