What if my voting location changed?
Sometimes the county Board of Registration and Elections may vote to change a voting location! Here’s why:
- Buildings aren’t always available: Even when a building has been a voting location for years, it may become unavailable due to construction, scheduling conflicts, or the organization that owns or rents the property may opt out.
- Precinct lines get redrawn: When lawmakers redraw district lines, your voting location may change.
- Efficiency and turnout adjustments: Counties may combine underused locations, add new ones in high-growth areas, and/or shift sites to reduce long lines at the polls.
- Emergencies or temporary issues: Weather damage (like from a hurricane), safety concerns (like mold), or last-minute logistical problems can force a quick relocation — even close to Election Day.
